Ash Grey is a very traditional colour, its first recognised use in the English dictionary dates back as early as 1374. Its name is as literal as it gets. It reflects the ash left behind from the burning of wood as fuel, like the remains of a campfire.
Rather than being a ‘true’ grey, as in black mixed with white, we have added a little more depth with the addition of yellow and red ochres.
